The Green turtle is one of the largest sea turtles and the only herbivore among the different species. Named for the greenish colour of their cartilage and fat, and not in fact their shells, they are classified as endangered, green turtles are threatened by overharvesting of their eggs, hunting of adults, being caught in fishing gear and loss of nesting beach sites.

The Ethiopian wolf is the world's rarest canid species. Closely related to grey wolves and coyotes, Africas most threatened carnivore are only found in the highlands of Ethiopia. Due to loss of habitat and disease there are currently less than 500 individuals left in the wild.

The Giant Panda is the rarest member of the bear family. Due to their exclusive diet of bamboo, the Panda has suffered due to habitat loss through deforestation, although recent conservation efforts have meant that numbers have increased in the wild.

The Amur Leopard is native to southeastern Russia and northern China, and is listed as critically endangered. Hunting and habitat loss due to unsustainable logging, forest fires, farming and industrial development have driven this big cat to the edge of extinction, but recent conservation work seems to have had a positive effect, with numbers believed to have increased, though still only to under 100 in the wild.

The Galapagos penguin is the only penguin species found north of the equator and in the Galápagos. With approximately 800 breeding pairs left the species is threatened by pollution, bycatch and climate change. Introduced species, such as dogs, carry diseases that can spread to penguins as well, and cats pose a threat as predators. Past strong El Niño events have caused mortalities of up to 77 percent.

The Iberian Lynx is the world's most endangered feline species.
Following conservation efforts taken to prevent it's extinction, from a shrinking population of less than 100 individuals in 2002, 404 cats now live in the Mediterranean forests of the Iberian Peninsula.

The Ring-Tailed Lemur is endangered in the wild, and it's population numbers are currently decreasing primarily due to the destruction of it's native habitat. Found only on the island of Madagascar, the Ring-Tailed Lemur, along with the other 100 types of lemur, are the most threatened mammal group on the planet and up to 95% of lemur species are threatened with extinction.
