I’m a printmaker based in York, creating hand-carved linocut prints inspired by the natural world. My work explores wildlife, landscape, and the stories that connect us to the environments we depend on.

Two skeletons rest together, held within a dense weave of wildflowers, roots, and growth. The piece draws on the idea that nothing truly ends — that even in death, something continues, transforms, and feeds what comes next.
A reflection on connection, impermanence, and the eternal beauty of the natural cycle.

A scene of York from the Bonding Warehouse next to the river Ouse. Beneath the waterline an Otter is joined by Pike, Barbel and Perch and above the river path is busy with walkers and cyclists beneath the trees, with the shape of Cliffords Tower high above.

This large print depicts a Shag sunning itself as waves crash around it. Similar to cormorants but smaller and generally slimmer with their prominent recurved crest on the front of their head.
In the UK they breed on coastal sites, mainly in the north and west, and more than half of their population is found at fewer than 10 sites, making them a Red List species.

A grey heron stalks the quiet waters near Naburn Lock, with Naburn bridge and the fisherman and his cat visible in the background.
A scene enjoyed countless times on walks runs and cycles in the area, this spot serves as another natural connecting point to the wild places in and around York.

In the Museum Gardens along the river Ouse, a song thrush balances on the branch of a tree among the ruins of St. Mary’s Abbey.
For both residents and visitors alike the Museum Gardens is a haven and a cherished natural space in the heart of York, rich with plants and trees, animals and history.

A design for a poster to highlight the work undertaken by the Friends of Severus Hill in York, who have been campaigning for many years to protect a hill in Holgate as a place of environmental, natural and historical significance.
As a site that has been reclaimed by wildlife after being left alone for years, the benefits to the local community in terms of wildlife, biodiversity and personal health are worth protecting, and the Friends of Severus Hill are working towards the acquisition and further preservation of the site, ensuring its environmental, natural and historical significance are protected and celebrated for future generations.

There are four rivers in the UK called the Ouse, each taking its name from the Celtic word for Water.
Created through reflections of living in the town of York, the architecture and landmarks, as well as the communities, green spaces and natural heritage, this design looks at the journey and place of water from the highest moors and dales, southwards, through all of the relationships water demands and supports with everything it touches.

A peregrine falcon stoops in silence across the gothic spires of York Minster, its form cutting past the vast detail of the celebrated Rose Window.
Inspired by the real peregrines nesting on the Minster, this print is a tribute to speed, precision, and the wildness sometimes glimpsed but often missed in our urban skyline.

A fox pauses, alert and wild in front of the bridge and Dovecot in Rowntrees Park.
The foxes in Rowntrees Park and surrounding Southbank are so often glimpsed, and always re-open a gate to an understanding of the urban wilderness we inhabit.

A mute swan glides across the Ouse, reflecting the calm geometry of Lendal bridge while navigating the river traffic all around.
The rivers in York really are the main thoroughfare for so many inhabitants, not least people. The swans stand out from afar and often with their young, are a reminder of the passing seasons and the the influence of the river on the city.

Dense, looping scrolls surround the phrase “Doomscrolling Again…”, a tongue in cheek reference on the hypnotic nature of anything repetitive, especially scrolling.

A group of geese patrol the lower slopes of Clifford’s Tower.
If you’ve visited Clifford’s Tower you have likely enjoyed the presence of either Canada or Greylag geese making the most of this idyllic spot close to the centre of town. As always, the effect that wildlife has on man made structures is to change its context and the way that we perceive them.

Green Man #2.
A Green Man figure inspired by the flora and fauna at my allotment in York. Depicting the brambles, currants, hops, insects and birds as well as many other details, the image was drawn from observation and sketches.

A humble Tansy beetle crawls across a Tansy flower head by the banks of the Ouse, vibrant and iridescent against the backdrop of the steel of Millennium Bridge.
This print celebrates one of Britain’s rarest insects and its fragile hold along the banks of the Ouse. Always an event and a celebration of how honoured we are to share the same space when you spot one!

A hedgehog noses through the pre-dawn traffic beneath the stone arch of Micklegate Bar.
A rare sight but one I’ve had the pleasure of seeing many times on my way to catch the first train. Always an absolute delight and one that ensures your schedule is put on hold as you slow down, observe and reflect.
